Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. – Ephesians 1:4-5

Have you ever joined a conversation that was already going on? Or turned on a movie in the middle of the story? You and I have joined an eternal story that is already in progress. This story is unfolding in real-time right now, all around us! It is God’s story of his purposes on the earth, and everyone in the world is born into this story.

If you have ever asked yourself, “What is the purpose of my life?” or “Why am I here?” you are not alone. If we try to discover our purpose by looking at ourselves, we will never find the answer. But when we start by looking at God’s story, the meaning of our lives can fall into place.

We are made to do life with God. We are chosen to be adopted as the children of God. The main point of life is to do it with God. If we are not doing life with God, then we will feel that something is missing -- because we are made for more! When we do life with God, we can approach today with hope, claim our inheritance, and tap into God’s great power.

How about you? Do you feel like there is something missing? Do you feel like God has called you to do something more? In your mind, are you writing your own story, or do you see yourself as part of God’s great story?

Think and pray

Take a few moments to read and reflect on Ephesians 1 and ask yourself today, am I made for more?

Lord, Your word says that You put me together in my mother’s womb, and that all of my days were planned in advance. You created me on purpose and for a purpose. Let me live this day in the confidence of who I am in You, fulfilling what You have given me to do for Your glory. Amen.
